Spider and Starfish Questions

  1. In the seventeenth century, why were the Spaniards unable to defeat the Apaches? What implications does this have concerning current, or future organizational?competition?

The apaches werent similar to any of other tribes since they didnt have any riches. Therefore the spanards would try to make them slaves but the apaches did not approve so they started raiding spanish compounds and started to take their own supplies. They defeated the spanish because of this but mainly because they were decentralized. This means that companies that have a set of rules it is easier to get rid of in terms of competition since they do not break the rules for this own gain

Rules are there for day to day functions.A decentralized organization is that there are leaders but do not have power in the system. There are rules but everyone has the freedom to make their own choices.

  5. Is this reading relevant to the current competition between new organizations such as Uber and Lyft and existing taxi companies? Why or why not?

Before uber you had to have a taxis lisence to drive a taxi, you had to follow certain rules, which made taxis a centralized organization. With Uber and Lyft anyone can become a driver with the click on of button on your phone. I think they are relevant cause they are entirely decentralized organizations since the workers have all the power and they can choose whether they want to work or not.
